We stayed mainly at The Tamarind Tree Hotel & Restaurant. Not "budget" but not terribly expensive either, and lovely. It's on the leeward (west) coast north of Mero beach. (One minor note on the Tamarind Tree: Dominica generally uses British-style power outlets, but the very nice couple who run the hotel are Swiss and they use Swiss style electric sockets. So if you're bringing a power converter to Dominica, you'll need both types. Things are that casual in Dominica.) In Calibishie, there's a little place on the main road called the Mainroad Suite. It's sort of a rustic cottage arrangement, like an AirBnB -- very reasonable. We stayed in Calibishie the last night of a trip because it's about a half-hour drive from Douglas-Charles Airport and we had an early flight. There's not too much in Calibishie, but PoZ' Restaurant & Bar Calibishie is excellent and Batibou Beach is nearby -- the road down to Batibou should NOT be attempted without a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but the beach is REALLY worth it.
