Bo from Denmark asked

Budget accommodation in Dominica?

We want to drive around the island and change places every night or second night. Any recommendations for great budget accommodation?
Thanks :-)

We stayed mainly at The Tamarind Tree Hotel & Restaurant. Not "budget" but not terribly expensive either, and lovely. It's on the leeward (west) coast north of Mero beach. (One minor note on the Tamarind Tree: Dominica generally uses British-style power outlets, but the very nice couple who run the hotel are Swiss and they use Swiss style electric sockets. So if you're bringing a power converter to Dominica, you'll need both types. Things are that casual in Dominica.)
In Calibishie, there's a little place on the main road called the Mainroad Suite. It's sort of a rustic cottage arrangement, like an AirBnB -- very reasonable. We stayed in Calibishie the last night of a trip because it's about a half-hour drive from Douglas-Charles Airport and we had an early flight. There's not too much in Calibishie, but PoZ' Restaurant & Bar Calibishie is excellent and Batibou Beach is nearby -- the road down to Batibou should NOT be attempted without a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but the beach is REALLY worth it.

I've mentioned this place before but Sea Cliff Cottages is an excellent spot. Very private and intimate. The Jungle Bay Resort & Spa has some great views. It's a really relaxing place.
