Cindy asked

Distance between Fayetteville NC and Washington DC

I'm driving from florida stopping in NC heading home to Philadelphia, I'd like to know what's the best to leave NC to avoid D.C. Traffic and not drive in the dark at night.

At Fredericksburg, you can skirt around DC proper by heading into Maryland, but not sure it will save you much as you still have Baltimore. You can also go west at Dumfries and head up through Leesburg (Virginia) to Frederick and up to York (Pennsylvania) and then over. It is even farther out of the way. DC itself is not bad if you ring around it and it is not rush hour.
