Looking for a place to stay in Detroit, near Comerica Park. Something affordable but nice. Also, open to suggestions for things to see and do. Thanks!

We stayed at the Duck and roll airbnb, you can have the whole house. The price is affordable, and there is a big garden, with a bbq! https://www.airbnb.fr/rooms/533636

Enjoy your trip!

The hotels get kind of pricey when there's an event going on but we've been happy with DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit Downtown - Fort Shelbyand Holiday Inn Express & Suites Detroit Downtown

Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of places near the sports corridor to stay. I would recommend any where in the suburbs such as Royal Oak (Michigan)

Book Cadillac, The Inn on Ferry Street are two great, and very different, options.

Well... not a good experience being from MI. Born and raised till 23 moved to fl. and moved back AND moved since, would not recommend anywhere short of Greektown Casino-Hotel if staying in the "city" suburbs are fine , Waterford (Michigan), Clarkston, Sterling Heights, etc. Stay away from Pontiac (Michigan) many parts of waterford, flint other suburban areas that you can pretty much tell are "not friendly" use common sense and keep in groups!

Detroit is a huge sports city. Take in a game at Comerica Park, Joe Louis Arena or Ford Field depending on the time of the year and sport you enjoy. There are also several beautiful theaters, the Fox, Fisher, and Masonic to name a few. They host world class plays and music acts. There are many festivals and events like the auto show, electronic music fest and jazz fest. There are also several casinos.
