I'll be traveling to Denver for my birthday, just looking for pointers on places to visit and eat at. Thanks!
If you will have a car while your out here, drive up to Red Rocks Park/amphitheater. It's about 20 minutes west of Denver. Cart-Driver has great pizza!
Good morning! Since I'm not sure what your interests are and what exact dates you will be here, I'll try to give you a broad overview. If you're a sports fan, Colorado Avalanche have a few home games on the 21st and 24th. The Denver Nuggets Ltd have a home game against the Timberwolves on the 30th. The Denver Broncos Lot A have a home game on November 1st against the Packers. If you are looking for some culture, the Denver Art Museum, and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are worth a visit. The last weekend of October the Denver International Wine Festival is at Omni Interlocken Hotel. I assume you will be staying downtown?
There are some pretty decent comedy acts those last two weekend playing at both the Comedy Works South, and Comedy Works Downtown. If you saw something at the south location you liked, the light rail will be very east to get to and from downtown to the south (Landmark) location. If you will have a car, and want to drive around a bit, I would check out Washington Park. On Pearl St, in particular are some fun places, and one of Denver's best restaurants, Sushi Den. Boulder is also a great college town to check out. A drive up to Morrison and Red Rocks Park is also cool as well.
If you are mostly sticking to downtown, my suggestions, anywhere from laid back, to pricey are as follows: Shameless plug for my friend and his fantastic jazz club/restaurant that just opened and is doing very well is Nocturne. The Source is a great market with one of my favorite restaurants, Acorn. Modern takes on comfort food at Steuben's. Any restaurant by Jennifer Jasinki, including Rioja, Bistro Vendome, Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen. Biker Jim's, ChoLon Modern Asian Bistro, Colt & Gray, Brothers Bar & Grill, Linger. Great burgers and ordering systems at Cherry Cricket. Or if you just want to belly up, and suck down some birthday beers, I would try Highland Tap and Burger, Bull & Bush, Sports Column, Chopper’s.
if I can answer any more questions, don't hesitate to fire back! Have fun!
