Hello Chistina. I'm going to give my 10 favorite restaurants I have eaten at, several that are probably top 10 type restaurants that I have not eaten at, but are firmly established in the Denver food scene, and several brand new restaurants that are getting a lot of buzz. Probably the best restaurant in the metro area, and perhaps Colorado is Frasca Food and Wine, about a 30 minute drive from downtown Denver. Others are Sushi Den, Fruition Restaurant, Colt & Gray, Table 6, Rioja, Linger, Acorn, Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen and Mizuna. Any restaurant run by Jennifer Jasinski or Frank Bonnano is going to be fantastic. Others that could be top ten that I have not eaten at yet are, ChoLon Modern Asian Bistro, Luca, TAG Raw Bar. New restaurants that are getting a lot of buzz are beast + bottle, Old Major, and The Populist. Denver's food scene is absolutely burgeoning and has dramatically improved in the last ten years. Happy eating and hope that helps!

Illegal Pete's has some great burritos if you're looking for something casual and cheap!
Here are few additional ones that weren't included in the previous answers:
Bistro Vendome - cozy, delicious and quaint. The martinis we had were unexpectedly delicious and quickly intoxicating (speed dialed Uber after the meal :-).
Sushi Den- Fresh! The miso cod is out of this world. If there's a line-up (no reso's here), sit at the bar. The sushi chefs are fun and engaging.
Kitchen Table Cafe - not a fancy surrounding, but if you're hankering for comfort food (think meatloaf, brisket, etc), then this is the place for you. Good spot for lunch and breakfast as well.
Cucina ColorePiatti Restaurant - situated in upscale Cherry Creek, the decor in this restaurant has a nice mediterranean feel. Love the calamari and the warm chocolate cake is heavenly!
Tables- Comfortable, relaxing and delicious. I chose fall-inspired dishes and they were amazing: crispy chicken with collards & turnips. Then topped it off with pecan-apple pie with maple moscato syrup. Divine.
