Ida from Durham (New Hampshire) asked

Must see museums in Dallas?

Heading to Dallas with some friends in September and I wanted to check out local museums. I'm up for seeing anything! Any recommendations?

Hi, the Dallas Museum of Art is pretty classic although not envelope-pushing, the Dallas Contemporaryis really cool and will be having a Mario Testino exhibit of photos in September. The Goss Michael Foundationis also in the Design District and has the largest collection of British artists outside of England, and there are lots of other worthy art galleries in that neck of the woods such as Conduit GalleryRed Arrow Contemporary Fine Art Gallery and Talley Dunn Gallery. Back in the Arts District there is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science which doesn't hold a candle to the NYC one but it's fun for kids and the The Crow Collection of Asian Art is also worthy. Fort Worth has its own big list of great museums if you have the time to make the trip.. it's only an hour away!

No word can describe the experience of visiting Dealey Plaza and the The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. It will take you back to a dark time in American History, show you why so many people believe there was a conspiracy, or help you to understand that Oswald was the lone gunman in JFK's death. The Dallas Museum of Art has a wonderful mix and a nice outdoor space. The Nasher Sculpture Center is nice, but there is a fee. The Cattle Drive Sculpture at Pioneer Plaza is a must see. The Thanks-Giving Square Chapel Glory Window (stained glass) has been written up as one of the most stunning in the world. Dallas also has a 3 mile public (health) art walk with a lot of interesting things. You can Google it to get a map.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science was really cool! I like creating my own bird. :)  Also, for a history buff, the The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza at the famous book depository.
