Spending only 3 days in crete and staying in chania. Definitely dedicating a day to samaria gorge. The other day is between palace of knossos or elafonissi beach? Opinions please on which would be better. I know they are completely different!
Hi. I spent a day at Knossos in July 2016. If you have a love of history and Minoan civilization, this place is a must. Be warned, it is very hot so be prepared. Also your ticket into Knossos includes a fascinating entrance to the Museum in HeraklionHeraklion. I am fascinated by Monoan culture.
Elafonisiis beautiful, I did not go there as had time limits but my friend said its beautiful but she could not find the pinkk sands she was promised. If you want beach or hot walking, its up to you. Outside Heraklion, stunning beaches, Malia not that far away and its amazing, a bus ride away from Heraklion. I would do half a day at Knossos then bus to Malia, then you get both. Malia very touristy but good food and beautiful beaches

It depends what you want to do! Personally, i'd say Elafonissi Beach because I've seen Knossos and wasn't too impressed.
