Coffee is big all over this area and many great tours exist from local farmers and personalities such as Don Juan,( here is a link to his page https://www.facebook.com/donjuancoffeetour )

Don Juan Tours and others such as Cafe Britt and Monteverdes Coffee tours, all of which also have great general reviews. Advice: Be very aware that the coffee here may be so pure that it could be dangerous to drink too much. It is Powerful stuff and it is very good to be aware of overuse symptoms because it is so delicious its effects can sneak up on you. Enjoy!

Hello Sarah,

The most famous and classic coffee tour in Costa Rica is provided by Cafe Britt (actually they are running coffee tours since 1991). However, the coffee plantation is located in the highlands of Costa Rica Central Valley. Back in 2012 when I visited Monteverde, I remember about another coffee tour managed by Café Monteverde in association with the Monteverde (Santa Elena) community. This is a very sustainable process as the water from the processing plant is recycle and organic waste is used to produce organic fertilizers among other initiatives they have. Very interesting community and an unique Cloud Forest.

I am sure you will enjoy the visit to Monteverde considered a major ecotourism destination in Costa Rica as it hosts the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

Pura vida!!

The Espíritu Santo Coffee Tour de Coopronaranjo R. L. was amazing. The plantation sits in the mountains of Naranjo. It is a free tour and you will want to be their Cafe Naranjo coffee when you're done. We bought a lot!
