Coney Island

What to do on Coney Island

I'll be in NYC this fall and I want to see Coney Island where I haven't been since I was a kid. I literally don't even know what's there to see anymore so I'm totally open to ideas.

Coney Island has changed a lot in the last few years but it's still fun. Besides sightseeing on the boardwalk, I'd see a game at Brooklyn Cyclones -- the minor league team of the New York Mets -- and stop in at Lola Star, a tiny shack that sells kitschy Coney Island merchandise. Instead of waiting on line at Nathan's for an hour (or more), go to Paul's daughter and try a pork or chicken sausage. There's a large candy chain called It's Sugar that just appeared on the boardwalk this year. They've got an amazing buffet of gummy bears, but if you like classic candy instead, try the apples and marshmallows at William's Candy Shop. If you still have time, take a walk down to Brighton Beach.

Mentioned in this answer:

  1. Brooklyn Cyclones (attraction)
  2. Coney Island (attraction)
  3. Brighton Beach (attraction)
  4. William's Candy Shop (attraction)
  5. Paul's daughter (restaurant)
