Can anyone tell me what I should see in Short North? I only have a day there so I want to hit the ground running. I love the art scene, coffee, and delicious food. Don't mind spending money on a good meal. What are the top galleries to see and best restaurants for dinner?
Hi Daphne, here are some thoughts on what to see, eat, and drink in the Short North.
To drink real good coffee, try these places:
For some real good meals, check these places out:
The best time to check out the art scene is on Gallery Hop night - first Saturday night of the month. That's when all of the galleries are open and people are
You can also hop on a free bus from the Short North and get to places in Downtown and in the German Village.
Also check out the Columbus Underground to see the latest on what is happening down in the Short North.

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse for steak in The Short North . There are all kinds of different galleries, depends on what you like. The area of shops are all on one street 5-6 blocks long. You can see them all in a day. The first Saturday of every month is an event called Gallery Hop. Shops are in open house mode with appetizers and drinks. That is when The Short North is the most fun.

Haiku is a restaurant I can recommend, and Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is the BEST place to go for dessert. The Gallery Hop happens every weekend in the evenings. The Short North is best explored by just walking up and down High Street. It's not a huge area, and in a 30 minute walk you can see most of it. Just stop in at the galleries to which you're attracted. Karavan Treasures From Turkey is a cool little shop with lots of exotic little items that make great gifts. Have fun, and enjoy the adventure :})

Daphne, in terms of food you definitely have to eat at Northstar Café. By far the best casual Lunch/Dinner in Columbus!
For breakfast or lunch try Northstar Café. For dinner - if you like Steak try Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. While you are out running around make sure you hit Grandview Mercantile Company this is a unique resale shop attached to an antique store.
