are all currently on my list. Looking for help specific places, or any hidden gems I might be missing.
I hope I've seen this on time. Here's my opinion on generic sights:
- Cartagena So many options. Check this article I wrote with my favorite restaurants and places to dance Salsa: http://hayo.co/how-to-enjoy-cartagena-like-a-local/ - This is a tremendous old walled city with beautiful women and good party.
- In Santa Marta you can find the Tayrona National Natural Park which is naturally beautiful, but if you don't like camping, this is not the place to be. There are some glamping options, but it's still a bit rough.
- Bogota is the big capital, but I particularly don't love it, but if you are there, go to Villa De Leiva for a day and in the city the catedral de sal makes a nice visit (it's an underground cathedral made of salt)
- Medellin go to the mountains and make a day trip to Guatapé to check the Peñol - Guatapé which is a pretty place with water and mountains. If you get a good guide, he might even show you the places where Escobar used to have his submarines.
There are also other less-traveled options like:
It all depends what you are looking to do: party? beach? indigenous civilizations? landscapes? restaurants?
Have fun in Colombia and before you travel read this "How to piss off a Colombian" article: http://matadornetwork.com/community/j3ssica/how-to-piss-off-a-colombian/ - I'm Colombian and I agree!
Mentioned in this answer:
Maybe Tayrona National Natural Park? Some friends have told me about this amazing place is a must, among other places.
