Could someone give me a little info or insider's tips on the trolley system. Never been to Cleveland before. Where can the trolley take me and where Can it not? Staying near Playhouse Square.
Kelly, we call it “the rapid transit” and there are 4 lines. Two go from Downtown to Shaker Heights (east) with various stops along the way, the blue line and the green line. One goes from downtown to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) (again, with various stops) and it is called the red line. There is also a short line that goes from downtown to the lakefront and the flats on the east side called the Waterfront line.
Since you’re staying near Playhouse Square, don’t miss seeing the grocery store, Heinen's of Downtown Cleveland, in a spectacular old building with an atrium. It’s also a great place to eat and sample wines. Lots of young people hang out at the ”9” rooftop bar (Azure Rooftop Lounge) at the corner of 9th and Euclid. And if you have time, don’t miss seeing the theaters right nearby, even if you just stop in to see the lobbies. They are an amazing testimony to urban preservation and restoration!
