A group of friends and I are coming down to Clarksdale to pay a visit to the blues trail. Does anyone have any hotel and food recommendations around there? We'd actually really like to eat some real Southern food. Thanks in advance.
If you like barbecue, Abe's Bar-B-Q has been around since 1924 serving its barbecue, hot tamales and ribs. That means they’ve been perfecting their tangy barbecue sauce for almost 90 years.
Hicks Tamales & BBQ Shop is another old school favorite. Made by Mr. Eugene Hicks Sr., himself since 1960. Hicks works alone in his kitchen to keep his recipe secret. The tamales are gut bombs, the size of small cigars, sold by the dozen. Bring your Pepto.
OXBOW is my new favorite lunch spot in Clarksdale. They serve the best fish taco in the USA. For real.
If you like cracklings, go to Kim's Processing Plant. Chicken cracklins are fried by hand at Kim’s. I'm Jewish and it’s every Jewish boy’s dream.
For a hotel, book rooms at The Lofts at the Five & Dime. It’s the best place to stay in town. The clean and comfortable lofts are located on the upper level of the Woolworth building. As a bonus, there is a coffee shop on the first floor where you’ll meet everyone in town.
