Andrea from Portland asked

Where should foodies eat in Cincinnati?

My husband and I are taking our daughter to Cinci for a long weekend. I was hoping we could get the scoop on where to find goods eats around town. We will have a rental car (so we can get around the city) and our daughter is well behaved, but it needs to be an establishment that allows minors. We come from the land of food trucks (Portland, OR) so we are open to all suggestions.

the classic Cincy places are Skyline ChiliGraeter's Ice Cream (get the black rasberry chip), and Montgomery Inn-Ribs King... As for the foodie question the Over-The-Rhine area is the most modern food.... Senate is amazing, Bakersfield, The Eagle, Nada, Eli's BBQ, Terry's Turf Club for burgers, BrewRiver GastroPub, Orchids at Palm Court for brunch.

If you go to Skyline Chili, do not expect traditional chili, for many it is an acquired taste and it tends to be a love it or hate it thing for most people.  I also suggest ice cream at Graeter's, it is a Cincinnati favorite, and I personally recommend the raspberry chocolate chunk!  The Montgomery Inn Boathouse on the river is a great setting (slightly upscale, but kids are welcomed) with great food (they are known for their ribs but also have good chicken, and my favorite is their pork chops).  If you are looking for a more casual setting and like BBQ, there's no scenery, but the food is awesome at Jim Dandy's BBQ, about 15 miles up I-75 from downtown in the suburb of Sharonville.

That's a few suggestions, hope you have a great time in Cincinnati!

Over-The-Rhine is the new hot place to eat in Cincinnati with a lot of different food options.

Nicola's Restaurant is pricey Italian in the same area. The food is delecious. The French Crust Cafe and Over the Rhine is a great lunch place,

I experienced Skyline Chili... a Cincinnati original.  It's spaghetti with chili on top...lol.  Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_Chili .  Also, Cincinnati, like the rest of the state of Ohio, has a strong german population so it's one of only 4 cities that has a Hofbräuhaus Newport.  If you like german food, it's worth the stop.  In addition, if you like Baseball, the Great American Ball Park is one of the best in the Major Leagues.  Cincinnati has an interesting history.  It was the largest inland city for many years because of shipping on the inland rivers (then Chicago became the largest with the increased use of trains).

Skyline Chili or Gold Star Chili definitely.  Or both. No one should leave Cincinnati without trying the chili.   This meaty thick and well seasoned sauce like chili is based on Greek recipes for Greek lasagna; it is served on top of spaghetti.  Two way = chili and spaghetti; three way = chili, spaghetti and either beans, cheese or onions.  Four way adds another topping and  Five way another.  Or you can get a coney with the same toppings.

If you like it, pick up some envelopes of the seasoning mix at a Kroger.
