Katie from Los Angeles asked

What's the best neighborhood in Cincinnati for a first time visitor?

I've never been to Cincinnati and I'm a little overwhelmed by all the hotel options. I'd like to stay in a hotel that is central and gives me good sense of what Cincinnati is like. I'd love to know where locals tell their friends to stay when they visit, and why those areas and hotels are special. thanks!

Katie, I think that depends on what you want to spend. Over-The-Rhineand Mt Adams (Ohio) are my favorite bar districts, but I am not sure what hotels there would be. You would have to check out Air BnB for those. Mt. Adams is probabably a seven minute drive from downtown Cincinnati, but has a nice walkable bar district and sits on a hill that overlooks downtown. You can walk downtown from OTR, but you have to be careful where you stay there. Just to be cautious I would say stay south of 14th St and try to find something on Vine or Walnut. OTR has amazing bars and restaurants. If you have a little bit larger budget, there are some cool Air BnB apartments downtown, with the best bar district there being The Banks. I would probably say a safe place in OTR or downtown would be your best bet to see the heart of Cincinnati. Maybe someone else can add their thoughts.

If you want central- stay in Hyde Park or Downtown Cincinnati. Mariemont is a little east but has a cute hotel and you can walk to eateries, ice cream and shops.

It really depends on what you are into... Downtown Cincinnati in the city is great if you like art, bars, food. The river front is a nice walk. We have great parks to view the river and city. Lots of museums. If this is what you like then definitely stay downtown at The Westin Cincinnati.

Downtown Cincinnati is the greatest! There are soooo many things to do, and places to eat, the best chain is Hilton.... so pick and go. Second best is Blue Ash or Kenwood (they are right next to each other). There's a great mall and restaurants in Kenwood. The Hilton hotels in blue ash are really clean and updated.
