Hi Lori, Consider this potential itinerary: 1. Chicago to Sioux Falls , about a 9.5-hour drive from Chicago. Stay overnight in Sioux Falls at Hotel on Phillips, a historic hotel in downtown Sioux Falls. 2. Drive around 4 hours from Sioux Falls to Badlands National Park , and stay at the Cedar Park Lodge (2 nights), the only hotel located in the national park. 3. Visit the Black Hills and Badlands National Park. For a suggested itinerary, check out the official website. 4. Badlands National Park to Jackson Hole , WY, about a 9.5-hour drive. Stay 3 nights at one of the hotels in Jackson Hole. Or if you prefer to stay a night at Jackson Hole and 2 nights in one of the lodges inside Yellowstone National Park like Old Faithful Lodge, Lake Yellowstone Hotel, Roosevelt Lodge are some of the lodges you can book through Yellowstone National Park Lodges website. 5. The above is a 7 days/6 nights itinerary, and I assume you will be driving back to Chicago. You may need 1-2 overnight stays on your way back. Hope this helps.
I-80W to US-287N to Old Faithful Education Center. 9 days might not be enough time.
Hazel This trip is 2,800 miles RT. I have driven from Chicago to Wyoming before. By myself in 30 hours. I 80W is a long flat drive. Wyoming is extremely interesting landscape. The rock formations are beautiful. I have driven all over SD. I could spend 4 days in SD easily. Mitchell SD is a nice place to visit. I like Eagle Butte, SD. I like Keystone, MT. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse. Crazy Horse is one of the best places in the country. I also really enjoyed visiting Wild Bill Hickok's home. Wall Drug Store is on I 80W. Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas have the best steak. Etc. · (1 like)
