Marina from Fort Lauderdale asked

Coolest spots for happy hour in Chicago?

What are some cool happy hour spots where I can go with a few coworkers after work? I'm going to be in Chicago for a week and would love a few places to check out! I like swanky, trendy bars, no dive spots! Company trip so budget isn't an issue.

Not an official happy hour, but Happy Ending every Friday 5-8 at Untitled is a blast in a very cool setting. Look for the "secret entrance" on Kinzie.

Marina--what area do you work in? If you want swanky downtown, you could try the rooftop bar at the Wit Hotel. If you want something swanky, but a bit more unique, I would cab it to the West Loop/Fulton Market area and get some foods/drinks at the  Avec (Michelin Star) or drinks at places like Maude's Liquor Bar  or RM Champagne Salon

I'd suggest Siena Tavern in River North and South Branch Tavern & Grille in the Loop.

Logan Square has lots of trendy bars like The Heavy Feather.  Or if you prefer a location closer to downtown River North has lots of good restaurants, though they may be a bit pricier.  Three Dots and a Dash is a tiki lounge inspired place with fun drinks.

For out-of-town visitor I recommend the Bar on 96th Fl. of the Hancock Building -unbelievable view of the entire city.

Chicago has several roof tops bars which are great in the summer: For example: Nomi Restaurant Lounge at the Hyatt Park, Vertigo Sky Lounge, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery (more casual and beers).....There are more; ask the concierge...

On the Gold Coast, try The Lodge and/or Mother's Too (good deals)

Three Dots and a Dash on 435 Clark (neat place)

Sidebar Grille on 221 N. LaSalle

Watershed on 601 State St.

Have fun

If you guys are doing dinner as well I'd say Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. There's an amazing and fun cocktail bar waiting area with a live pianist doing jazz and blues numbers. You can place your drinks on the piano and lean on it - it's a pretty lax and bumping bar - and the food is outstanding. For just drinks the Wicker Park area is amazing. You can roam and find tons of bars worth checking out; great walking area too.
