Hi Lauren! The Chicago food scene is out of control right now. So many places to recommend, but to pick a few:

If you like seafood, head to GT Fish & Oyster, but definitely make a reservation in advance as it books up. The menu changes seasonally, but is great for sharing smaller dishes (oysters are a must and the tuna poke is a solid choice). For speciality cocktails, try the Clean Brake or the Waitlist.

If you're into BBQ, country music and just a fun atmosphere, Bub City is your spot. Depending on what night you go, they usually have a live band as well. And they have fried pickles for an appetizer. Need I say more.

Au Cheval is a french diner that hands down has the best cheeseburger in all of Chicago. I know this might not scream girls night, but it's just that good. The owners also operate Gilt BarBavette's Bar and Boeuf, and Maude's Liquor Bar which are all amazing and take reservations. You won't be disappointed in the food or atmosphere at any of these places.

Lastly, if you like tacos and a little more casual vibe, try Big Star in Bucktown. The taco al pastor or the taco de pescado are my favorites. They are cash only and don't take reservations, but you can head to the speak easy Violet Hour across the street for some fancy drinks while you wait.

Lots of places in River North.  I would suggest Paris Club or Tavernita.

The @Grand Lux Cafe http://www.grandluxcafe.com/ Is a great dinner spot. It over looks the magnificent mile. Great drink (pineapple martini) great food and they have made to order desserts like molten lava cake, and fresh baked choc chip cookies. Yum! And @Garrett's http://www.garrettpopcorn.com/ has really good popcorn.

Not sure I am the best person to answer this question but my all time favorite spot in chicago is Quartino. It has some of the best Italian food in the city and their house wine is cheap and good.

Carnivale is really fun.  It's a South American food (not Mexican) and has good chicken entrees.  We even took a picky eater there and she loved it.  Another fun one is Nacional 27.

Cafe Iberico Is a great place for tapas and delicious Sangria. I also like Big Bowl on Ohio St. It is Asian cuisine with a great specialty drink and wine menu and very reasonably priced. Big Bowl is very close to Heaven On Seven on Rush at 600 N. Michigan Avenue, which is a cajun restaurant that is very popular.   Sunda is a trendy Asian restaurant at 110 W. Illinois has a great menu, drinks, and service. A little pricey, but a cool place. Girl & the Goat is another fun trendy restuarant featuring strange entrees, but you will find something you can tolerate and love. If you are looking for a great margarita and Mexican, try Ricky Baylees' Frontera Grill
