Where can a I rent a sailboat (preferably small, like a sunfish/Laser)?

I want to sail on my own (no skipper).

And I'd like to keep it under $400 per day.

Ideal boats (in this order)

  1. Laser
  2.  Hobie Cat (16' or larger)
  3.  Sunfish
  4. Larger boat is fine as well.

(But honestly, I'm not too picky. I've been sailing for over 30 years and just want to in some sailing on vacation)

A few options:

College of Charleston  Sailing Club:

Costs about $475/year. (Great deal) although you need to be qualified to operate the boat.

Based on Caroline's info I found:

  • Charleston Sailing School
    Bareboat rental
    843- 277-4236 ($225/day for a 25' Catalina $450 for a 35 Catalina they have a larger boat (39 Catalina I think)
  • Fate Sailing Charters (49' 50 seat)

I think your best bet is to inquire at Marina Variety Store Restaurant because its right on the water and frequented by people with boats.
