I want to learn beginner Spanish by immersing myself. I've heard of do-it-yourself study programs in Guatemala and am wondering if any of you have experience with such. Looking for something cheap, for about two weeks, and safe for me to travel to by myself.
Last year, I studied Spanish for 3 weeks in Granada, Nicaragua at Spanish Dale. I really had a great experience there. I learnt a lot both from my teacher and my family host. Nicaragua is safe, cheap and is known as the "land of lakes and volcanoes". I would recommend you to give it a try! Click here to know more about Spanish Dale! Spanish School.
I studied at Viva Spanish School (Viva Spanish) in Managua for a week getting ready for a business trip. They were great, worked with me the way I needed them to despite a mismatch between my reading and speaking levels.
Plan to travel outside of Managua if you're staying for a little bit.
Check on http://www.casaxalteva.org/ is located on Granada Nicaragua a beautiful colonial city that comes from the 1500´s is a nice, safe and affordable place to study some Sapanish while you inmerse on your spanish at school or at your Homestay you at the same time are helping poor kids from the area as part of the profit goes to help them.
