Hermosa Beach
Hi
My husbands 50th birthday is in August and I am taking him to Carmel. We are going to do the usual—aquarium wander for 3 days
looking for a very nice hotel or house to rent. Also looking for restaurant recommendations.
any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
kate
We stayed at a quaint little Inn in Carmel By the Sea and we absolutely loved it! Carmel is a lovely, charming town and much more quiet than Monterey area. We drove to all the places we needed to see, but enjoyed walking the streets in Carmel to our restaurant or shops. It's a very clean, pretty town with the beach right there, too! It's called The Coachman's Inn..so comfy and quiet and so quaint!

We stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn to get a nice view of the harbor seals, and walked down Cannery Row to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Another option that might be nicer is the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa.
I don't know as much about the actual hotels in Carmel, we basically stayed in Monterey to walk around that area easily, then drove the 17 Mile Dr down to Pebble Beach (California) and parked in Carmel By the Sea to walk around and eat at a really great Japanese restaurant (can't remember the name now).
Airbnb has a lot of nice options to rent a beach house, so that might be a good option too.
