Should we rent a car in Cancun?

A car is always a good idea, i see that you are from new york and believe me, you do not have to worry about parking, must of the places have big parkings, as Xcaret, Xelhá, even in Playa del Carmen, or if you want to go to Chichen Itza or Cancun or Puerto Aventuras.

when i say a car is a good idea is beacuse this way you can also do activities by yourself and you do not have to take all in tours, they are expensive.

it also depends on what do you want to do while you are there. Taxis are also expensive, i would recommend renting a car also if you are a big number of members travelling.

I don't think so. A bus ride is 2 pesos. It makes a lot of stops so plan for that, but I thought it was worth it.

It depends on your itinerary! We thought about renting one but we were glad we did not because driving there seemed a little crazy. Good thing our activities included transportation and our hotel provided limited transportation to the cancun nightlife areas and the malls. We also took a taxi going back to our hotel one time, but make sure you bargain when it comes to taxi fares because I have heard about them over charging. Let them know how much you are willing to pay, just make sure it's not a cheap offer or ask them how much it will be and decide for yourself.
