We've been dealing with a lot of stress in the last few months and after Christmas, everything should finally be winding down. We are heading to Iceland in May, but that seems so far away and will be quite "action packed". We'd love to escape before then and just relax somewhere for anywhere from 3-7 days. We don't want much more than a 6 hour flight from Calgary and we don't want to go to Mexico. Where would you suggest?
How about California? Might not be as exciting as Iceland or Mexico but if you're looking for low key, close-by and affordable flights, you'll definitely get an easy go with some nice milder weather.
Fly into San Francisco and you'll have lots to chose from in the Bay Area. San Francisco itself is overflowing with great things to see and do, but if you're looking to kick back Napa Valley has great wine, vineyards resorts and spas. San Jose is a short drive with lots of museums and culture - and who could resist a visit to the infamous Winchester Mystery House? A little further south is the Monterey Bay which has boating, aquariums and is centred around being on the Ocean. If you do end up in that region you'll be spoiled for food choices as everything is delicious, lots of sea food and a real focus on fresh, healthy local farm-to-table foods.
Hope you find a great spot to visit and get a little R&R!

San Francisco is a great option for an easy trip from Calgary but even less hassle would be to stay in Canada and go to Vancouver or Victoria where you can get a change of weather and lots of options for relaxing.
