Train or Bus to EC

Is there a train/bus that connects/travels from California to New York?

Yes. Take the train to Chicago. Take the Amtrak train to California. Go to the Amtrak website. There are many options.

There's no direct train from California to New York City. The 'California Zephyr' from Emeryville and the  Southwest Chief and Texas Eagle from Los Angeles run to Chicago then the Cardinal will take you from Chicago to NYC.

NB Amtrak schedules have been substantially reduced because of the pandemic. In more normal times most routes run daily. 
There's also a Chicago>NYC Greyhound bus service but it takes *much* longer than the train.
You can book Greyhound tickets to NYC from several locations in California but, obviously, it's a pretty lengthy journey.
