I-7S to I-87S to I-95S This is a 1500 mile trip. 500 miles = 8 Hours. 3 nights. Choose a hotel brand. With pets I recommend LaQuinta Inns. Sign up for the rewards program. 1 case of water per person/pet. I stop at rest area every 1-2 hours with a pet. I have driven dogs to Florida many, many times. I would stay in Christiana (Delaware) for the 1st night. Leave at 4am, to avoid heavy traffic and heat. I would drive from Christiana, DE to Florence (South Carolina). It is about an 8 hour drive. Keep in mind, an 8 hour drive or 500 miles may take 10 hours. So you can adjust you time, this is why I say start at 4am. La Quinta Inn & Suites has lighted dog runs. Very dog friendly. No pets in dining area. Please clean up after pets. Have a safe and pleasant journey. I gave you the basic journey. I do not know about the toll roads through NY, NJ, DE. Once you are on I-95 it should be easier. You have much to endure the first 8 hours. I may suggest a rolling cooler for any medications or food you want cool. I pack a separate bag to take into the hotel. Same for the dog. Green leash for friendly dog.
