Heading to Budapest on Friday for the first time. We only have 2 days and would love suggestions on what area to stay in for local flavor.
I recommend you to find an accommodation in the District V., District VI.. and some parts of the District VII, which are in the middle of the city. I highly recommend my neighbors very lovely apartment to rent out if you can. http://www.vrbo.com/378687
Have fun in Budapest! :))
Mentioned in this answer:
Budapest is great - we went in April 2014 and loved it.
We stayed in the Jewish quarter - it was a couple of metro stops, or a lovely, easy walk, to get to the river and center of town. We got a cheap 2 start hotel which was average, but friends found better and bigger accomodation in the same area for a better price via AirBnB.
There are a few ruin bars around, which are very cool, but also quite expensive (London prices). Head to the quieter streets and local bars for cheaper options.
Check my post on things to do and see in Budapest (including some rium bars we liked):
Have lots of fun!
