Visiting Budapest at the end of October and was wondering where the best areas are to stay? What are things I can't miss to do when I'm there?
We stayed at the Budapest Marriott Hotel and had a Riverview room. It was great-location, beautiful facility, great service etc. We even stayed an extra 2 days. Honored guest people are treated even nicer.
Budapest is great - we went in April 2014 and loved it.
We stayed in the Jewish quarter - it was a couple of metro stops, or a lovely, easy walk, to get to the river and center of town. We got a cheap 2 start hotel which was average, but friends found better and bigger accomodation in the same area for a better price via AirBnB.
There are a few ruin bars around, which are very cool, but also quite expensive (London prices). Head to the quieter streets and local bars for cheaper options.
Check my post on things to do and see in Budapest (including some rium bars we liked):
Have lots of fun!
