My partner and I are visiting the northwest in late June/early July. We have 5-6 days between visiting Seattle and Portland and wondering if we have time to drive up along the Sunshine Coast north of Vancouver, across and down through Vancouver Island, then across to see Olympic National Park before heading to Portland. Is this do-able in 6 days and what are the not to be missed spots? We just love driving and checking out spectacular scenery and perhaps stop for a good walk or two. Any spectacular scenery that is a must see? Thanks!
If you love to spend time in the car then yes it is totally doable!
Day one - I'd say drive from Seattle to Vancouver in one shot. Check into wherever you're staying then spend the afternoon checking out Robson St Granville Island and the downtown before having a nice dinner out and enjoying what the city has to offer.
Day three - for more intensive driving you can head south to highway 4 and take it across the island heading through Port Alberni to Tofino and back, heading south to Victoria for the night. Seeing Tofino and the Vancouver Island interior forests are amazing (I wouldn't miss it if I were you!) but for a bit of a lighter drive day just head down the east of the island straight to Victoria stopping in the towns along the way.
Day five - Head down the 101 highway south along the coast of staying in Astoria for the night.
Most days you'll have between 3-7 hours of driving but with endless places to stop along the way it shouldn't be to hard to break it up. The scenery will be gorgeous the entire way (I'm jealous!). Hope that helps and good luck with your trip.
