I'll be in Brasov for a conference in June. What are must-sees in and around the area?

Brasov is a great place to base yourself while visiting Transylvania. The Peleş Castle is amazing. Only a short train ride or mini bus away in Sinaia. Most people also visit the Dracula's Castle in Bran but I found it underwhelming after seeing the Peles Castle. The Râsnov fortress is also another cool castle in a sleepy small town. If you only have a short amount of time to try one place I would pick Peles Castle in Sinaia. In Brasov they have a great free walking tour by Guided Brasov The tours are fantastic. Knowledgeable guides that take you to all of the major historic sites and teach you about the history of the city. A little further afield is the city of Sighișoara which is a lovely little town where Vlad the impaler is from. The town has a beautiful clock tower and it is worth a day to stroll around the old town if you have extra time.

The surrounding of the city is quit old and nice to see and make a little walk.

Around the town there´s a lot of green space to do a little hike or bikeride (if you like). If I remember well its also called something with Brasov in the name and it´s a nice ride up and back down again afterwards.
