Juli from Salem (Massachusetts) asked

Camping and Sightseeing in Late April south of Boston?

We are looking for nice campgrounds, and cultural things to do in this area at that time.  We love art and cultural museums, beautiful gardens and scenery, historically significant places and quirky/unusual things to do. Thoughts? Would love to stay within 200 miles south of Boston.

Hi Juli,

This sounds lovely! April is a really nice time in New England, before the black flies start buzzing and the humidity takes over.

I really love Rhode Island, and recommend visiting Newport. You'll find the old mansions an impressive work of art and architecture, and be able to stroll through some incredible gardens. My favorite is The Breakers (check out the The Preservation Society of Newport County), which sits near Salve Regina University and the famous Cliff Walk

If you're looking for something a little more quirky, try visiting the Thayer St area of Providence. Also beautiful, it's home to students who attend Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Enjoy your trip. :)
