Looking for food, drink and daytime things to explore
Downtown Boise has tons of great restaurants you can find on Yelp or by walking the streets. Coffee shops, parks, bars, museums, and hikes in the foothills... the city's got a lot to offer depending on the season and what you're interested in!
For food and drink, my favorites are Goldy's Breakfast Bistrofor breakfast/brunch (wait may be long, but worth it!! Spicy chicken benny & italian frittata are out of this world) and 10 Barrel Brewing Boise has awesome fish tacos, burgers, and bar fare with their local brews of the season. Fork is also an outstanding restaurant for lunch/dinner downtown.
The Idaho State Capitol Building is always worth a visit in my book. Most days you can walk right in the front doors and explore the marble building. There are generally displays in the basement as well. The Boise Depot and Old Idaho Penitentiary Siteare also cool if you like historical places.
If not, the Boise River Greenbelt is a riverside walking/biking path that runs the length of the city on the edge of the Boise River, and is wonderful for a stroll or ride on nice days. The Foothills also have a system of trails for hikers or casual outdoorsmen.
Downtown Boise has live music and art events as well, current event postings can be found on the Boise Weekly website: http://www.boiseweekly.com
