I'm traveling to Bogota in February with a friend. I don't want to stay in youth hostels but can't afford upscale hotels. Does anyone have any recomemdations for some hidden gems?
Hey Michelle, I've heard of a small boutique hotel in the chapinero area of Bogotá (near great restaurants in the bohemian side of the city) called Hotel 6 Suites Bogotá. I'm not sure if it fits your budget but check it out! Definitely go to the Zona G to one of the many amazing restaurants if you are into food (who isn't?). Hope you have a great time!
I have a really great suggestion according to your preferences; it's a warm a home-feeling place called "Casa Maconglo" Hotel. It's really near to the Airport and to the Buses Terminal (5 minutes by car).
This hotel it's located in a secure and comfortable zone, and it's near to many interesting and must-go places in the city like Simon Bolivar Park, Salitre Magico Park, Corferias... etc. Check prices, available rooms and contact information in their website:http://hotelcasamaconglo.com/ Hotel Casa Maconglo
I hope you can enjoy your trip! Let me know any further information i can give you! ;)
you need to try in this hotel: Villa Deporte Colombia http://www.villadeporte.com/ this is the best place for you :)
There's a great line of hotels/apartments called VIAGGIO (http://viaggio.com.co/en/node). I've stayed twice at the Urban Viaggio (link below) and had a great experience. They actually have a hotel style for each type of traveler, so there's:
Expedia actually has a great selection of hotels in Bogota http://www.expedia.com/Hotel-Search?#&destination=Bogota (and vicinity), Colombia&startDate=10/10/2013&endDate=10/12/2013&adults=2,2
Have fun in BOG!

Tequendama is very good an option as is traditional of the oldest in the city but with the luxuries and standards.
