locate a good breakfast or coffee shop on the west side of Birmingham

I want to stop outside of birmingham to get coffee with some friends. i'm coming from memphis, and don't want to have to go into or through the city. what are the best places to stop for coffee or breakfast if you are traveling from memphis so that you don't have to go through the city?

Green Acres Cafe on Ensley is on the west side, if you get off I-22 to US-78. It doesn't open until 9am though.
The other option might be Niki's West on Finley Ave, which opens at 6am. Same thing, take US-78 to Finley.
Those are both outside of the downtown Birmingham (Alabama) so you should be able to get to either one.
