Best Sunset in the World
I recently saw the most amazing sunset and it got me thinking... where is the best sunset in the world you've ever seen? I'd love to see some photos if you have any!

Botswana without a doubt! I was once taking a safari in a tiny dugout mokoro canoe in the Okanvango Delta and snapped this shot - it has not been photoshopped or instagrammed it was that gorgeous![]()

Isla Amantaní in the middle of Lake Titicaca, Peru.
It was one of those rare travel moments that transcends centuries and cultures, standing at the top of the island with new friends from Spain and Germany, worshiping the falling sun at the ancient temple of a pre-Incan culture. Not only were the views gorgeous, but the setting evoked a feeling of being in touch with an ancient people who were intimately in touch with the natural world. Truly breathtaking, and definitely the most unique experience I had while solo backpacking South America. Highly recommended if you're traveling through Puno and have two days and a night to experience this place.![]()

Seattle has been darn good for sunsets since I moved here almost a year ago. Here are two of my favorite snaps!
I took this one from the shores of Elliott Bay Trail late in 2013.
And then this one just a few weeks ago from CenturyLink Field as I watched a Sounders game!
Don't you want to move here yet??

Saskatchewan We refer to our province as "The Land of Living Skies" and it is definitely that. Our sunsets are magnificent, on any day when there is no cloud cover, which is almost every day! I've seen wonderful sunsets in other North American places, and in the tropics, but none can exceed in beauty the ones I see at home.

Sunsets are one of my favorite things to see when I travel. They can be so different from any other one you have seen before, it all just depends on the place. The best on for me was in the very south of Bali. I spent all day at the beach and the sunset made the perfect end to a great day, here is a photo I took of it.
P.S Debbie where was the sunset you just saw?

Definitely Paris on my first ever evening there! I'd landed in the pouring rain, but the clouds started to clear for sunset. This was taken along by Hôtel de Ville. Bit of a rubbish photo, but I love it - it always reminds of seeing Paris for the first time!

One of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen was in Oia , Santorini, Greece. However a bit more wonderful even is the sunrise.
Another amazing sunset I saw in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. You have to be in the right spot where not so many people go.

I am lucky to live in Mornington Peninsula and we look west over Port Philip Bay here are a few of my Sunset Pictures from this winter. I think we should all plan to take a sunset picture on a particular day i.e 11/11/14 Starting from the date line and creating a record of the sunset on that day as the sunsets around the world creating thousands of pictures in thousands of points on our planet. Come on lets make a record of that day. Please pass it on.

My best sunsets were in Key West and Sedona.
Now with Sedona the pictures turned out absolutely spectacular we got to the highest point at where we were staying Sky Ranch Lodgeand you had the view of the red rocks in the backgrounds and it was just so gorgeous! Sky Ranch Lodge also had a separate viewing area that was more private just for guests to watch the sunset.

I think every Sunset is unique and the best part is they are never repeated even at the same place so saying one sunset is better than other will not be correct. As for me the I just loved the Sunsets in Kerala Fort Kochi
Here is my blog post about the same: Sunset in Fort Kochi in Kerala, a state in South India, also rightly known as God's Own Country

Here in Amsterdam we have a lot of water, an effect of that is we have a lot rain and clouds. Next to that, the sunsets are long (because of the location on the northern hemisphere). In this equation the color changes are beautiful, and they are rare. Notice the changes in the spectacle. Here' are some pictures of the start to end of the sunset, from the view of the restaurant REM Eiland. And please mind me saying I did not use a filter.

This was taken outside of Bamenda, near the grounds of the Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon, June 2012. We were staying on top of a mountain and were eating down in the village (3/4 of a mile straight down the mountain from our house) when we saw the color start filling the sky. We dropped everything we were doing, and sprinted up to the house so we could see the sun set over the valley. Aaaaaand it was absolutely breath-taking.![]()

One of my favorite places to watch the sun set is at my mom's house in Warsaw (Virginia). I must have a thousand photos of sunsets there.
But my second favorite sunset was probably in Porto. The sunset seemed to last for hours, and the colors moved across the water and the bridges and the hills and the houses in a magical way.

I don't know if it was the best, even when it's known as such, but I found the sunsets in Oia and Mikonos just wonderful.
The sunste in the Grand Canyon is also beautiful because you see the mountains change colours from brown and greens to bright reds. ![]()

I still think about this sunset to this day and like many of you have said, pictures cannot do it justice.
The orange sky reflected on all of the white buildings in town, it was so unbelievably beautiful and an experience I will never forget.

Guam, by far. No where else compares. Watch the sun set from Tumon Bay. I'm from California - the land of the setting sun - so it's hard for me to say it but it's true. Being out in the middle of ocean, with such dense rain clouds, you get a full spectrum of colors that can't be seen otherwise.

Best I've seen recently was certainly Mt Cargill just outside Dunedin, NZ. Our AirBn'B hostess casually mentioned there was a nearby spot good for sunsets so we drove up thinking we would get a nice view of the city from a hill. What we were treated to though was outstanding 270 degree panoramas on a night that just so happened to be an absolutely perfect one for a sunset. Just the right amount of clouds to let the light play and smatter the sky with orange, pink, purple, and all shades of blue as the sun made its exit. Was definitely the most unexpected of breathtaking natural beauties in a country filled with them. I only used the camera on my phone which doesn't even begin to properly capture it, but you get the picture.
