Hi, I am traveling to Berlin and going to London to visit a friend, what is the best way of travel to get to and from? I am traveling solo and so lost already lol...
Most cases, I would fly easyjet or air berlin. All airports in both cities are easy to reach. Definitly search with skyscanner! Prices can be as low as 60 euros at times! Regular around 150 though. If you're planning your trip from texas, book your flights up front, usually you have 2 free stopovers in one price.
A train is fun, you see a lot, though you have to book two months ahead for a decent price, and it's at least 8 hours travel.
To drive is fun if you have a decent car, though long, up to a days drive.
have a safe trip.
Fly! There are two airports in Berlin flying to 5 airports in London, so find out where your friend lives and which the easiest airport/s are before booking your journey. London airports are m-i-l-e-s apart so it makes a big difference!
By flight.... Air Berlin or Ryanair
We took air Berlin from London to Dusseldorf... It was pretty cheap like €60 a ticket. We also took the ICE train from Paris to London and that was very nice too. It just depends if you want to do it a a site seeing trip or need to get to London quickly. If you take either train or plane you need to go thru the same type of screenings- our train ticket said arrive half hour before departure- WRONG! Give yourself a good 2 hours!
Good luck and have fun!
Easiet would be by airplane
Best is to catch a flight - EasyJet, RyanAir are the low cost airlines or you can fly any of the major ones (BA, Lufthansa).
I flew Air Berlin which was very straightforward and got a good deal. There are a number of budget airlines that service the route. Air Berlin flies into Stansted Airport while EasyJet flies in to Gatwick I think - both airports have great transport links into central London. Depending on what kind of deal you can get, you might find the most expensive part of the journey is the train from the airport to your London destination!
Going by road or train would be a fairly long trip. The train from Berlin to Paris is around nine hours and then you'd need to change for the Eurostar to London which takes around two and a half hours.
Take the train, definitely. Discount airlines, buses--stay far away.
