We are staying at the Melia Berlin and have already purchased tickets to Prague via train. We thought the train station was within walking distance to our hotel, but have realized that we leave from Berlin Hbf (tief). What are our options for getting from the Melia to the train station? Also, our train leaves at 10:46. What time do we need to be at the train station?
I recently stayed at the Melia Berlin, and it's super close to the S-Bahn (Friedrichstrasse station). You should be able to take the S-Bahn to the Hauptbahnhof.
It would likely be a fairly quick taxi ride, too. The concierge at the hotel was very helpful -- I'm sure she or he can assist you once you're there.
You can take the train from Friedrichstraße one stop or get your hotel to call a taxi, it's not very far so it shouldn't cost you very much. German trains are very punctual and sometimes the trains aren't at the platform until just a few minutes before they're scheduled to leave so being too early doesn't really help. The Berlin Central Station is massive though, with multiple levels, so you may want to give yourself some time to navigate it, at least 30-45 minutes.
