Airport shuttles

A hotel I was looking at quoted $500BZD for a one way airport shuttle PER PERSON, which is still quite expensive in CAD. Another I looked at said $200+, is this typical? How on Earth do you manage to get around if it's that pricey? Does anyone know of any safe/reliable shuttle services that charge less?

If you aren't locked into Belize City , I would get on the next flight to San Pedro.  Belize City is a little scary, your guard has to be up at all times.  It's the kind of place you go to your resort and stay there.  If you go to San Pedro, it's a little town, you can walk everywhere, great restaurant choices, then you can fly or take ferries to Caye Caulker or spend the day in Belize City.  If you want to see the The Great Blue Hole, you have to book your tour out of Belize City.

Mentioned in this answer:

  1. Belize City (city)
  2. San Pedro (city)
  3. Caye Caulker (island)
  4. The Great Blue Hole (attraction)

It will be cheaper to find a taxi or shuttle from the airport. There are also public buses which are... an adventure, but definitely doable for the right person.
