Must see/do things in Beijing?

I'm starting to plan a trip to Beijing and would love any advice on some must see and do things while I'm there! I'd like to stay in the city and see city attractions but open to venturing outside of Beijing if there is something worth visiting. Thanks!

Hello, I'm a advisor from ChinaFunTrips.com. For tours in Beijing, the Great Wall Of China is the must-see and I suggest you to visit Mu Tian Yu Lu Great Wall since it is less crowded and located not very far from Beijing downtown. It is much easier to join a cheap group tour travel with an English-speaking tour guide. Also Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Hutong are worth visiting.

Besides, excellent night show tours such as Kungfu Show, Peking Opera Show and Acrobatics Show also worth seeing since they are the culture of China.

Sanlitunis the best place to enjoy colorful Beijing nightlife.

Beijing is an ancient capital city in the east. First, Forbidden City is the right place for you to start your Beijing tour by unveiling its mysterious face. Then, The Great Wall Of China snaking across Beijing in its northern part is about 600 kilometers long. Along the total length of the Great Wall around Beijing, there are major eight sections including Badalingzhen, Juyongguan, Huanghuacheng Shuiku, Mu Tian Yu Lu, Gubeikouzhen, Jinshan Ridge Great Wall, and Simitai. Most of the sections of Great Wall in Beijing are well-preserved and mainly the remains from the Ming Dynasty, an era of huge construction. For the climbing of the Great Wall, strong footwear is needed! In summer, please prepare for sunblock, sunglasses and water. One of the best things to do in Beijing – go see the Peking opera show. Beijing opera stage art in various literature, performance, music, singing, drums, makeup, costumes, masks and other aspects, through long-term practice. The stage image is very rich, but very strict. With these programs, it is unable to complete the creation of the opera stage art. As the opera in the beginning, they entered the palace, the growth in its different from local operas. It will show the life field more wide characters, to shape more, comprehensive, integrity of its technology also requires more strict requirements on its creation, aesthetic stage image is also higher. At the same time also added in local flavor of the folk, simple, straightforward style is relatively weaker.Wish you a nice trip!

Here's my list but it's not written in stone: the summer palace, the Hutong, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and of course the great Wall but take the tour outside the city. Also, take an evening and go see a Chinese opera. If you can't take the tonal sounds, (very different /difficult for the Western ear) then you don't have to stay for the whole show, but it's definitely an interesting experience. There is also Tiananmen Square and the nearby open beautiful malls, fun too, but not on a bucket list. Enjoy!
