My husband and I will be spending a few days in Barcelona, but we want to experience authentic Barcelona, not touristy- Barcelona. Any advice as to places to see, great restaurants or things to do that are not full of tourists?
Hi Lauren!
Barcelona is the perfect choice to spend some days and get inspired!
Three things I would recommend.
1. La Caseta del Migdia for a BBQ place that disconnects. Attention, only weekends and public holidays.
2. Celler Cal Marino has the perfect Vermut and not really many tourists... (whats Vermut? --> “Vermouth is a thing you do on Sundays, after Mass and before lunch.” read the full story on WashingtonPost)
3. Check the schedule of 2014 edition of "Music als Parcs" - i.e. free concerts in public parks. There are many concerts. Sorry the schedule is only in Catalan, but times and descriptions are pretty readable. Most of the concerts start around 8 PM. Link Programm & their Twitter feed.
Need more ideas, I have a full book of them... check my homepage #BCN - by locals.
Enjoy Barcelona, Jahn

You can't miss La Boqueria. Pinotxo especially.
Also head to Quimet & Quimet for montaditos and an extensive vermouth selection.

Barcelona is very touristy, but there are some hidden gems that the city has to offer.
Here are my picks:
Parc de la Ciutadella - A beautiful park, one of the city’s oldest green spaces.
Bo de B- A sandwich place near Barcelona Harbor.
el Jardí - A cafe/ bar hidden in the courtyard of an old hospital, in a garden setting.
Chök - the chocolate kitchen- A chocolate kitchen!
You might find my Youtube video helpful where I go to each of these locations: https://youtu.be/0pRKpNs-5GE
