Saint Joseph (Missouri)

Cheryl from Saint Joseph (Missouri) asked

What is a good place to stay for a couple of nights for sightseeing?

We're on a smaller budget and will spend most of the time sightseeing in Bar Harbor, ME. Acadia and the lighthouses are our destinations.

Bar Harbor (Maine)

Hi Cheryl, I have stayed in several places in Bar Harbor they are...Edenbrook Motel, Acadia Inn, The Days Inn Bar Harbor/Frenchman's Bay and Isleview Motel and Cottages. In the summer there is a shuttle bus called the Island Explorer that picks up visitors at many of the motels and will take you to downtown Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park. The motels a few minutes out of Bar Harbor are cheaper but the shuttle can take you where you need to go. I'd check with the motel to see if they use the shuttle. The rides are free. I hope this helps. If I can be of any more help let me know.

Thank you, Jane. We will have a rental car. Knowing that, is there a nice little affordable motel you would recommend outside of Bar Harbor or do you think we would get more enjoyment staying in bar harbor itself? I appreciate your insight!

Hi Again Cheryl, I'd stay on the out skirts of Bar Harbor, they are a less expensive. The Days Inn is the closest one to town. If I think of any more motels I'll let you know. You'll love Bar Harbor.

Thanks so much for your help, Jane!

Wow, thanks for sharing all these great spots, Jane! I'm a community manager here and I wanted to let you know that I've helped you highlight the places in your answer on a map! In the future, you can do this yourself as you answer a question by simply typing the @-symbol followed by the name of the place. Take a look at your map next to your answer! :)
