What is the best area in Bangkok, where I can enjoy shopping, busy streets, nightlife and can get a budget ($30-50/night) hotel to stay for 2 days.
Hi Lakhvir,
Check out Matchbox Bangkok Hostel in Sukhumvit (close to Emporium Shopping Complex), Chao Hostel (only a few feet from Jim Thompson House), and Analog Hostel in Sukhumvit (on a small alley). These hostels are close to BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System).

Stayed at the Shanghai Mansion Bangkok on Yaowarat (Chinatown) It was fantastic, hotel very reasonable, also main floor has a bar/restaurant and live music at night, the space is open to the street. Had the best time, such a vibrant part of town, was there end of January just before Chinese New Year and the markets, street food, etc. was awesome.

If you like it a bit alternative and relaxed I can recommand the Soi Rambuttri area which is behind the temple nearby Kao San road. Many guest houses at a budget, excellent food an street food and walking distance to the kings palace.
