The most popular traditional dessert is Halwa Showaiter, also known as Bahraini Halwa. It's a must try.

AL Zalabiyah is also a popular dessert in the Gulf especially during Ramadan. It is served with Arabic coffee.

Bahrain is a nation in the Arabian Gulf. The people are warm and the society boasts multiculturalism, though Bahrain is a Muslim conservative country, much like Dubai. Which means you have the freedom to live your life as your wish without conflicting their cultural values and customs. Bahrain has the mixture of rich historical sites and modern marvels to see and enjoy. Here are the places for you to visit in Bahrain .

Bahrain National Museum The museum gives you a peek into the rich history of Bahrain

Bahrain Fort The ancient fort is an ancient UNESCO site.

Al Areen Wildlife Reservation This reserve is home to various Arabian beasts like the Arabian Leopard, the Ostrich, the Arabian Gazelle, the Oryx and more.

Tree of Life A 400-year-old mesquite tree mesquite tree in the sea of sand.

City Centre Bahrain Shop till your hearts end and eat at Arabian restaurants while you have tons of indoor entertainment at the City Centre. It has a waterpark inside.

Bahrain International Circuit See and experience the formula one track if you love speed.

There are different architectural marvels sprouting up in Bahrain which you can view during your drive along the city. The alluring CityScape is best viewed at night from the sea.

I would definitely suggest the Bahrain National Museum and the Al Fateh Grand Mosque - both can be done on the same day as they are close together. Don't try to visit the Mosque on a Friday though as they probably won't do tours on that day. Also up near these is the Manama Souk which has an amazing spice section as well as numerous jewellery shops. Just be prepared to be hounded by the trinket-sellers wanting you to buy toy camels and knock-off watches.

If your stay includes a Friday, most of the hotels do an all-you-can-eat buffet. My personal favourite is the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa Hotel on the east coast of the island, but that could be a trek depending on where you are staying. If the weather is good, book a table outside and stay for the sunset.

There are lots of good restaurants in Adliya. Try out one of the many shisha cafes such as Al Bindaira Cafe and have some traditional Arabic food and fresh fruit juice.

If you can afford it, a driving experience at the Formula 1 Bahrain is well worth doing.

Hope you have a great time.
