You may think we are a little crazy, but we've booked some flights from Boston to the Azores in June with our baby who will be just over 7 months. Wondering if anyone has advice on an 8 day itinerary that would include activities that would be doable/safe with a baby assuming you are prepared with front or back carrier, will rent cars with car seats, etc? We are starting in Sao Miguel but want to see one or 2 more islands. We hope to do a little outdoor walking but not serious hiking with one so young.
This is perfectly safe with a baby.
Roads are very good and distances fairly small.
I assume that you are going to Sao Miguel island since you are not mentioning anything else.
There should be no places that holds you back there because of your child I would say.
Obvious places to visit would be Sete Cidades Furnas Lagoa do Fogo and maybe also Nordeste if you don't mind a bit of a drive.
There are many view points along the way with decent rest stop facilities.

We are in Sao Miguelwith a 10 month old for a week right now (June). It's 60s every day - some cloudy, rainy, and sunny. Bring layers - it's warm during the day (nearly 70), but cools in the evening for pants/light sweater. We rented a car, brought our car seat, which is a free piece of checked luggage when you travel with an infant. Instead of a stroller, we brought a hiking backpack (wore that thru the airport) and gate-checked it. The sidewalks are very skinny in these little quaint towns, so I am so happy we did backpack instead of stroller! We also brought a soft cloth front pack for walking around town. Ok, so what to do....we stayed at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel in Furnas - beautiful hotel with free access to the acres of botanical gardens (fun for our guy to wander in) and to the outdoor hot spring (just a brief dip for him - pretty warm!) we ate dinner at the patio bar, so he could run around. Everyone (hotel staff and other tourists) has been so sweet to him! We are not risking a whale watch - sounds too rough for the baby. We also plan a beach day at some point. We are trying to keep him on Boston time, so we are also taking it easy and letting him go to bed late (we all go to dinner at the typical 8-9pm Azorean dinner time), sleep late, and get a nap or two in the day. Hope this helps! Have fun!

Hi Dan, I'm thinking of booking a trip to the Azores with my baby but have the same question as you. What did you end up doing on your trip? Our baby will be about 10-months old when we are thinking of going. Thanks in advance!
