I am moving from Austin TX to Boone NC. Driving a 1998 Suburban k1500 pulling a 6x12 trailer. I have had the truck checked, tuned up etc. What I need advice on is the easiest route, recommended stops, etc with the trailer. I think we will take HWY 20 across and then come into Charlotte NC before heading up to Boone. I am concerned that the northern route through TN is too mountainous. Looking for ANY suggestions from folks running this route with trailers or RVs of best/easiest highways, places to stop (when you’re inexperienced in parking a trailer) as well as the best/least hazardous route into Boone with an old truck pulling a trailer. Any feedback is MUCH appreciated. Even if you disagree with my HWY 20 decision, tell me why LoL. Doing this the first week of August (you are correct, I may be insane as it will be the hottest week of the year so far) but jobs and leases dictated our travel dates so here we are! I am open to any feedback that isn’t purely aimed at changing the plan because I can’t move another way or another time. Thanks in advance!! Also, feel free to just reassure me that I won’t die because to be honest I’m pretty nervous about this trip! (I have made this drive before, drove the same truck without trailer from NC to TX two years ago, it’s the trailer that has me nervous).
