Hotel recommendations in Downtown Austin

I'll be visiting Austin with friends for a week and we'd like to stay Downtown or at least close to it.  Any suggestions?  None of us are too picky, just something clean, safe with mid-range price options.  Thank you!

The W Austin Hotel is nice. Convenient downtown location, but with stylish sophistication you expect from the W.

If you're looking for something more boutique, check out KimberModern. Clean lines, bright rooms, comfortable and stunning rooms just off the vibrant South Congress district. Close to the action without having to hear it 24/7. You gotta love that.

Hotel San Jose is another fun one. Funky, boutique digs amidst the shops, restaurants and nightlife of South Congress. It's the quintessential Austin hotel-- a bit artsy, very chill, and more affordable than it's big sister, Hotel Saint Cecilia, which is boutique luxury in Austin. You can look into that, too.  Tucked just off the hustle and bustle of South Congress, this is the perfect way to be near the action without having to hear it. Fabulous pool, great room service and a bar that serves up fantastic cocktails.

This is far off, so you may just want to check out this place for the spa, but look into Lake Austin Spa Resort. Something about Austin makes you want to become a wellness freak and geek. This is the place to tap into that. Yoga, spa services, healthy food in a chic lodge setting on the edge of Lake Austin. You'll leave feeling like a new person.

I haven't been, myself, but a buddy stayed at Firehouse Hostel and Lounge with his daughter and they both loved it (plus, the location's amazing for Downtown fun - you could trip and fall into 6th street from their front patio):

I've stayed at Star of Texas Inn several times  ( ) and their sister BnB, Austin Folk House  ( ) once.  They're both located within a short distance of one another, so neither has an advantage from that perspective.  They're both in the heart of ATX, a short walk from Guadalupe St (which is pretty much Austin's "Main Drag")

Mentioned in this answer:

  1. Firehouse Hostel and Lounge (attraction)
  2. Star of Texas Inn (hotel)
  3. Austin Folk House (hotel)
