I am planning a rehearsal dinner. What is typical Atlanta food, drink, and venue suggestions for northerners and Californians?
Although Atlanta isn't technically a coastal city, you might want to try something like Shrimp and Grits, fried green tomatoes, pecan-crusted chicken, etc. South City Kitchen has the best "modern" southern kitchen. Take a look at their menu to get some ideas. On the other hand, Atlanta is a pretty cosmopolitan city when it comes to food. There are fab steak houses (Bone's Restaurant or Chops Lobster Bar) and great seafood (The Optimist).
One more idea... the Atlanta History Center is a beautiful old mansion in the heart of Buckhead (Atlanta). It has a restaurant, Swan Coach House, on the grounds. That would be a very Southern place to hold your rehearsal dinner.
Mentioned in this answer:
Mary Mac's Tea Room!! A true Atlanta tradition. The food is great - and very Southern. I've seen several rehearsal dinners held in a private room here. Enjoy and best wishes!!!
You can have your Rehearsal Dinner High Museum of ArtAtlanta is a cosmopolitan city where you can find almost any kind of food. Some dishes to include are pimento cheese, Shrimp & Grits & Peach anything. Meat cooked with Coke is a treat, too. Atlanta is the home of Coca Cola. You can also have a rooftop celebration at one of the rooftop bars.
