Can anyone recommend dining and lodging on a budget in Asheville NC? Would love to hike as well if you have any suggestions on hikes in the area.
Hiking- absolutely Dupont State Forest, about 1 hour from Asheville. Get a book on hikes to waterfalls in WNC and grab your camera, have fun. On the Blue Ridge Pkwy, my favorite is Graveyard Fields, about an hour south. It isn't far from Pisgah Inn which has great food, reasonable prices, great views.

Tupelo Honey Cafe on College Street is a must, I would also recommend Early Girl Eatery for breakfast.
Chimney Rock is a beautiful hike.
