The exact straight line flight distance is 885 miles, but assuming you're driving, it's about 1,060 miles on the highways. You would take I-355 from Arlington Heights (Illinois) to connect to I-55 and take that down through Illinois, then switch over to I-44 after St. Louis, and finally I-40 in Oklahoma City to get the rest of the way to Amarillo.
