My wife and I are looking at making a 8 - 10 day trip to Argentina in March of 2015. We are relatively new international travelers (only a few trips to Mexico and Costa Rica).
If you had 8 - 10 days to enjoy the best of Argentina, what would you do? I would love to have at least 2 - 3 days in each location.
Activities of interest: Hiking, cultural immersion (off the beaten path), enjoying nature, ability to relax, great food and wine
Thank you for your help!
You will want to visit El Calafatewhich is close to the Perito Moreno Glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park. Strap on some crampons and go for a hike on the glacier. There are two guided options for hiking on the glacier and you have to be with a guide but it's an unforgettable experience. You will need to take a boat over in order to do the hike on the glacier. The glaciers in Patagonia are like nothing else in the world so highly recommend putting this on your list. Lots of great hiking in the park as well. There is also a Glacier Museum called the Glaciarium in El Calafate which has which is really informative and at the end of the tour you can grab a drink in the ice bar. 2-3 nights here is sufficient. There is also some great kayaking available between the icebergs in Los Glaciares National Park.
