There are so many good ones!

Indonesian/Dutch fusion

The numerous Indonesian restaurants in Amsterdam are a by-product of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia int he 17th century. Rijsttafel (“ryst-tah-fell”) roughly translates to “rice-table” and is simply lots of small dishes of spiced meat and vegetables accompanying rice. Other Indonesian specialties includeBamigoreng (stir-fried egg noodles with garlic, onion, vegetables, meat, egg and chilli) rendang (meat in coconut and spices), and a spiced layer cake called spekkoek.

Check out Indrapura

Bitterballen

Found in most cafes and bars in the Netherlands, bitterballen are coated and fried meatballs usually served with a selection of savoury snacks such as bite-sized Gouda cheese, tiny egg rolls, and sliced local sausage. Great with spiced mustard!

Stamppot

If you are a fan of mash potato (and who isn’t?), Stamppot is your new best friend. It comes in many different varieties and is a brilliant comfort food or a great way to keep warm on a winters’ night. You can try: boerenkool (kale), zuurkool (sauerkraut), hutspot (onions and carrots) and rauweandijvie (endive).

Check out Blue Hollander.

Hi Sally, with 'no budget' you mean it has to be cheap? Or price doesn't matter and you can spend whatever? Just checking so I know what to recommend :-)

We had an excellent dinner at Chez Georges recently.  Excellent food, service and wine.  The food is French/Belgian, and the price was very good for the quality.  Comfortable, traditional atmosphere.
